Our Story

In 2016, our team embarked on a business odyssey, taking on the challenge to advise to senior leadership on strategic initiatives for a pioneering project in a Middle Eastern country. The focus was to address critical areas of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs. Among these priorities, food safety stood out, especially considering that over 90% of the country’s food was imported.

One of the key recommendations was to implement high-tech hydroponic technology to produce vegetables  in the middle of the desert. This bold initiative proved to be a remarkable success, with dozens of hectares rolled out during the initial phase, with the target to achieve complete self-sufficiency in horticultural products, ensuring the country’s resilience and sustainability.

However, this was not the end of the story, but rather the prelude to some even more exciting developments…

In the summer of 2022, Spain grappled with an unprecedented combination of drought and extreme heat. This made evident that our traditional agriculture  were ill-equipped to ensure a stable and secure food supply. In particular, the water challenges we will face in the coming decades mirror those experienced by Northern African and Middle Eastern countries.

Consequently, the idea of introducing the same innovative solution in Spain took root, gaining immediate traction and contagious enthusiasm among partners who  decided to formally establish  Cornucopia  Sustainable Farming.

Why did we choose the name Cornucopia?

The term “cornucopia” comes from Greek mythology and refers to the horn of the goat Amalthea. According to the legend, Amalthea was a symbol of fertility, nurturing Zeus during his infancy. In gratitude, Zeus blessed her with unending abundance, endowing her horn with the special power to provide anyone who held it with an inexhaustible supply of food .

Inspired by this concept, our technology emerges as a modern cornucopia, offering solutions to tackle the global challenges of food supply, with a focus on abundance out of scarcity, sustainability and health for all.

Let’s transform challenges into opportunities! Join us in shaping the future!
